Just in: Sam Dickson is injured and off from Olympic team

The All Blacks 7s social media page has just announced that Sam Dickson a senior player of the New Zealand All Blacks has been ruled out due to injury.

Dickson is said to have suffered a hamstring injury while in training camp in Townsville, Australia. The valuable star will be replaced by reserve Amanaki Nicole, the call up for Nicole shows that everyone has to stay focused including reserves.

New Zealand was also plagued with another injury earlier this month, as Niall Williams of the Black Ferns was also ruled out of the Olympics after suffering a neck injury. The Olympian posted on her Instagram account an emotional video of her telling the bad news.

New Zealand’s men’s and women’s teams are both favorites for an Olympic medal, with the women’s team being expected to win not just any medal, but the gold medal.

Although it is normal in sports for athletes to get injured before the games even begin, it is sad news that Dickson and Williams will have to miss out on the games. It’s the horrible truth of an athletes life as Williams mention in her Instagram post about her withdrawal from the games.

New Zealand is now in Tokyo at the Olympic Village as they make final preparations for the Tokyo Olympic Games. The boys were seen going straight to the gym to help climatize themselves before the games kick off this July 26.

The Black Ferns will be flying out of Townsville, Australia tonight as they make their final preparation. The Olympic silver medalists will kick off on July 29 with the rest of the women’s games.
