Evania Pelite is being eyed by the Gold Coast Titans as they plan on signing her for the NRL Telstra Women’s Premiership campaign after the Rugby Sevens super star returns from the Tokyo Olympics.
Pelite will be making an appearance at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games in a few weeks time to defend Australia’s Olympic gold medal. The Sevens speedster is said to be close to signing a contract with the NRL team after her Olympic stint.
The 25 year old was one of the star attractions in the NRLW last year, scoring three tries and two try assists. Counting in big tackles with 22 busts and four line breaks in the games she played.
Although no official announcement was made, it is understood that the Titans have made an offer to the sevens star.
Pelite will likely have to go through a 14 day quarantine upon returning to Australia, this would mean that she would miss out on the mini pre-season with her Titans teammates.
Ellia Green is also in the ropes for another NRL appearance after the try scoring machine was surprisingly overlooked for the Olympics Games. Green and Pelite where together with the Warriors last season.
Green’s shocking omission was immediately spotted by eyes from the NRLW, including one coach at a new franchise who is said to have phoned the winger.
Green went on social media last week to address fans on her missing out on Tokyo saying:
“The past few days have been pretty long and dark since being told I haven’t been selected for the Tokyo Olympics,” Green wrote.
“This is the reality of sport, it can make you feel like you’re on top of the world and it can also make you feel lower than the ground.
“Thank you for the messages and support from everyone. I am not currently injured, I just didn’t get selected and I accept that.”
Though the magic maker of Australia has yet to hint on her next move whilst sitting out on the Olympic Games.
