Ireland 7s calls on another player for Monaco

With Monaco sevens only days away, Ireland Rugby and Anthony Eddy have been in a frenzy as they build their best squad to win them a ticket to the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Eddy, has made an injury enforced change to the Ireland men’s 7s line up with Greg O’Shea being called on to travel with the squad in place of the injured Gavin Mullin.

Ireland will be one of two favorite contenders for the last single men’s ticket to Japan a the World Rugby Sevens Repechage in Monaco. Ireland is expected to have a head to head battle against the French 7s teams as both teams aim for an Olympic appearance.

This will the the Irish Sevens teams first official international tournament since the pandemic disrupted their rising performance. Players like Jordan Conroy are expected to help lead the team to a victory in the French Riviera.
This will also be O’Shea’s first time to travel with the Irish sevens team since he last played in August at the Los Angeles 7s.

The Irish squad is said to have arrived in Monaco last Monday and has been training since as they build up for the World Rugby Sevens Repechage at Stade Louis II.

Ireland’s first match will be against Zimbabwe followed by Mexico then Tonga.
