Felix Oloo the Kenya lionesses head coach has named his squad that will face Ghana in their Olympic Qualifier and named Philadelphia Olando as team captain.
The Kenya Lionesses squad going to Madrid for the inter-regional high-performance preparation events was named on Friday by head coach Felix Oloo with Phila Olando named as the captain. Reported by the Standard sports.
Federación Española de Rugby (FER) and supported by World Rugby will be hosting the events in preparation for the Olympics.
The final lionesses squad representing their country are; Captain Olando, Celestine Masinde, Sheila Chajira, Janet Okello, Camilla Cynthia, Christable Lindo and Sarah Oluche.
Naomi Amuguni, Stella Wafula, Ann Gorretti, Enid Ouma, Diana Awino will also be part of the travelling squad to Spain.
The tournament will feature up to 12 men’s and 12 women’s teams from across the region and will be participating across two successive weekends of Feb20-21 and Feb 27-28.
However, the lionesses will miss the impact plays of Sinaida Aura who has since retired.
HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series 2021 will provide a contingency schedule with a return to a full competition schedule anticipated for the 2022 HSBC edition.
Lionesses qualified for the Olympics after finishing second in the African Women 7s in 2019. Making them the first Kenyan side to qualify for the prestigious Olympics.
They will be taking this opportunity to prepare for the fast approaching Olympics.
