Monaco has been chosen to host Tokyo Olympics repechage events

The World Rugby has confirmed that the last chance of qualification for the Tokyo Olympic Games will be hosted by Monaco on 19-20 June, 2021. The World Rugby Executive Committee has confirmed that the event will return to Stade louis II.

The Final Qualification event will feature 12 men and women’s teams all eager to win the remaining one men and two women’s team places at the Olympics Rugby Sevens in Tokyo, which is set to take place on 26-31 July 2021 at The Tokyo Stadium.

The Women’s line up features: Argentina, Columbia, France, Hong Kong, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Madagascar, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Samoa, and Tunisia.

The Men’s tournament will feature Brazil, Chile, China, France, Hong Kong, Ireland, Jamaica, Mexico, Samoa, Tonga, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.

Following the success of Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan, Rugby Sevens is expected to be one of the most highly anticipated events of the Tokyo Games. RWC 2019 made a record-breaking broadcast audience and huge increase in numbers of rugby fans across Japan and Asia.
