Watch Blitzbokke’s Powell and Springboks’ Nienaber talk strategy using sauce bottles and coffee cups
South Africa Sevens coach Neil Powell met Springboks defence coach Jacques Nienaber in a dining all – and the sauce bottles, coffee cups and shakers had no chance.
The two highly respected coaches, as expected, started talking attack and defence and subjected the props on the table to a number of complex moves that one would probably find on a sevens or 15s pitch.
Powell takes his men to North America for the Las Vegas Sevens, from March 1-3, and the Vancouver Sevens, from March 9-10, looking to make up ground in the HSBC World Sevens Series.
The Blitzbokke are fourth after four tournaments on 57 points with New Zealand and United States the joint leaders on 76 points. Fiji are third with 72.
South Africa face England, Japan and Chile in Pool C.
Have you heard about the salt shaker who became a dummy runner? And how the spoon found space behind the cup? This is what went down when @Blitzboks coach @neil05powell and #Springboks defence boss Jacques Nienaber bumped into each other in the @sas_hp dining hall. #LoveRugby pic.twitter.com/nspA4Tk8KE
