USA women’s player Naya Tapper is one of the biggest names on the HSBC World Sevens Series, with her bursts of speed and strength making her a dangerous and feared try scorer.
With the ball in her hand, the 24-year-old All-American at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill exudes confidence. But it was not always the case for the Beaufort, South Carolina-born Tapper.
In this Twitter post by World Rugby, Tapper talks about her nerves before making her sevens debut for the Americans at the 2016 Sao Paulo Sevens tournament.
The US are second in the 2019 world series after three tournaments on 48 points, 12 behind leaders New Zealand. Their next event is the Kitakyushu Sevens in Japan from April 20-21, where they face Ireland, Fiji and England in Pool C.
